Commercial Art Projects Block 4

Silk Screen- The Silk Screen project was very difficult for me because it is has lots of steps that require precision and require a great deal of patience. The process of making it it completely worth it though. Our finished product was not as we planned out, we had to redo our silkscreen because it was held out in the light too long and hardened. The final product was almost perfect besides the lines were not as sharp as we would've hoped. The smaller lines on our turtle print became merged together in some areas. The back of our shirt however came out very detailed and was a success. The theme for our shirt was beach themed and used many of our ideas as a group and combined them

Mono-print- The mono-print was my least favorite of all the projects. I disliked it because it did not turn out the way I anticipated and the colors blended to create a terrible mashup. For my final mono-print I used orange, blue, and purple. I tried to create my take on a sunset over the ocean. I started with orange as my base and mixed that with a little blue to make a more burnt autumn color and create a darker backdrop. For my 2nd color I used blue as my base for the water and sprinkled  some pieces of paper into the blue to try and create a "reflection" of the sun dipping into the water. Lastly, I used purple to distinguish the blue and purple and create some depth in my work while also maintaining a sunset and the brightness of it. My colors blended a little to well and then became a blob of some sort and became distorted. My first one also reflects this distortion and sloppiness.

Block Printing- Block printing was very fun. I greatly enjoyed this project even though I struggled at times. The main struggle I had was that my print would not cleanly transfer or that the lines I carved were small and hard to see when I printed. This became my favorite project though, because I had the chance to use my favorite piece of Art I made the entire course. The elephant piece was my favorite, because it was so random. I accidentally created the piece by just free hand drawing without an idea of what I was making until the end
